The US Air Force has developed a hundred pound aircraft decoy that costs only $30,000. The new decoy is only 91 inches long and is launched from an F-16. The decoy has a 500 kilometer range when launched at high altitude. As the decoy moves forward, it banks and turns, thus showing a larger, and more reflective, area to enemy radars. Thus the decoy looks like a larger aircraft. The Air Force is buying 150 of the decoys over the next three years.
