THE US MILITARY is allowing members of the Wiccan religion to hold ceremonies at Fort Hood TX, Fort Polk LA, Fort Wainwright AK, and Kedena (Okinawa). The traditional view is that Wiccans are witches and warlocks who practice black magic, but members of the neo-pagan cult claim they are (and always were) a nature-based positive religion which worships the energies found in natural things. (Their story is that the medieval church falsely "spun" the story of devils and witches in order to drive the competing nature cults out of business.) Arch-Christian members of Congress, led by Bob Barr, have vowed to shut down the pagan ceremonies. Steven V Cole
